James Carpenter

James explores how individuals learn in unique educational settings, currently conducting research alongside students and teachers at a Tokyo school for the visually impaired.
This session introduces a mixed-methods approach combining ethnomethodology with quantitative analysis. Drawing on research at a school for the visually impaired, James details how conversation analytic perspectives illuminate foreign language acquisition in performance-based contexts.

Introduced to educational drama by Ilkay Silk, Darren spent six years teaching dedicated chorus and drama classes at a private Japanese high school, preparing students for annual stage performances.
